The Dubai Mall marks festive season with assortment of entertainment and children’s activities

Dubai, UAE; December 24, 2011: The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, is all geared up to mark the festive season and welcome the New Year with a fun-filled calendar of entertainment events, children’s activities and surprises galore for visitors.

Nasser Rafi, Chief Executive Officer, Emaar Malls Group, said: “On course to set a record year in terms of footfall, The Dubai Mall is offering a delectable festival experience for our visitors this month. The activities are specially tailored to maximise the joy associated with their visit to the mall, once again underlining the mall’s appeal as the preferred family destination. Visitors can shop for a range of gifts, and more importantly see the eyes of their beloved ones light up thanks to the festive activities and entertainment.”

For a first taste of festive season, children are invited to build and decorate their own Gingerbread House at the Giant Gingerbread House Workshop. Parents can bring the little artists until Dec. 30, from 5-5:45pm; 6:30-7:15pm; 8-8:45pm and 9:15-10pm to take part in the workshop, located next to Galeries Lafayette. 

The young ones will also be enchanted by the Winter Wonderland Workshops where they can discover four beautiful winter chalets, each of them offering different arts and crafts activities. Face painting, balloon bending, festive mug making, greeting card design and picture frame souvenir making, will all be waiting for them until Dec. 30. The activities will run on weekdays between 12-10pm, and on weekends between 2pm and 12am, at the Star Atrium.

For those ready for more, Alice in Wonderland will offer colouring stations as well as entertainment from the Alice in Wonderland Clown from 11am to 10pm near Hamleys until Dec. 30. As they walk around the mall, shoppers will encounter Stilt Walkers Fairies that are sure to make an impression.

Visitors shopping at The Dubai Mall will be offered complimentary gift wrapping service until Dec. 30 from 5-5:45pm; 6:30-7:15pm; 8-8:45pm and 9:15-10pm. Ribbons, wrapping paper and scissors will work their magic on the Second Floor, near the Aquarium walk.

In addition to these activities, the Oud/Qanoon and Piano Player duo will also offer live entertainment until Dec. 30 from 7-10pm at The Fashion Avenue.

The Dubai Mall, the must-visit retail and leisure destination in the city, features over 1,200 retail stores and 160 F&B outlets. With Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s as the anchor stores, the mall has a dedicated Fashion Avenue hosting 70 of the world’s leading names in haute couture.
