• Mall to open from 10 am to 1 am and F&B outlets until 3 am until Sept. 15

The flagship property of Emaar Malls Group will also continue the tradition of providing visitors with daily Iftar packs featuring The Dubai Mall branded mineral water, dates and a Ramadan calendar. The packs and calendars will be distributed complimentary at all Guest Service Desks.

Mr Nasser Rafi, Chief Executive Officer, Emaar Malls Group, said: “The activities at The Dubai Mall mark the traditions and customs associated with the Holy Month of Ramadan. In addition, the events are focused on strengthening the values of generosity and solidarity that are associated with Ramadan.”

A key activity at the mall is the “Girls Education Campaign 2011,” a Dubai Cares initiative held in association with The Dubai Mall. Visitors to The Dubai Mall can donate AED 60 to Dubai Cares by simply sending an SMS to ‘9060’ for Etisalat customers and ‘9460’ for du customers.

The Dubai Cares “Girls’ Education Campaign 2011” aims to address the gaps that prevent girls from going to school. An estimated 42 million girls around the world do not go to school. As part of its commitment to help achieve gender equality by 2015, as represented by United Nations Millennium Development Goal 3, Dubai Cares has launched the “Girls’ Education Campaign 2011,” which The Dubai Mall is supporting throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.

In addition to SMS donations, mall visitors can drop by the Dubai Cares stand located in The Dubai Mall’s Star Atrium, where, for AED 50, they will receive a book-shaped brick bearing their name that will be used to build a symbolic classroom.

The goal is to complete the classroom with 2,000 blocks by the end of Ramadan. All donations will support Dubai Cares programmes in developing countries that address gender imbalances in primary education and empower girls within their communities.

Traditional entertainment will lend authentic Arabian ambience with Oud and Qanoon players performing from Tuesday to Saturday for a 45 minute session three times daily. Among other activities, the seven pillars of Architecture including Unity, Respect, Knowledge, Balance, Sincerity, Modesty and Remembrance will be prominently displayed at the mall and explained through a combination of Arabic art and descriptive passages.

The Islam Affairs & Charitable Activities Department will set up a stand at the mall to provide insight into the religious significance of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Islam through educational and engaging discussions.

KidZania®, the unique children’s edutainment city in The Dubai Mall managed by Emaar Retail LLC, comes alive with the ‘Madinat KidZania®’ theme reflective of the Holy Month. With bright lights and exciting themed activities, children can immerse themselves in the spirit of Ramadan at KidZania. Activities include designing of greeting cards, lanterns, traditional jewelry and henna; special Ramadan programmes in the radio station; covering Ramadan news in the newspaper and TV Studio; joining in a live Arabic drumming street parade; as well as special kandura and abaya fashion shows.
Following the concept of charity during this season, children are also being encouraged to donate KidZos, KidZania®’s official currency, which will then be doubled in value by KidZania®’s Government and donated to underprivileged children. They will be able to use the KidZos to shop for gifts at KidZania®’s department store.

In addition to indulging in Ramadan shopping from the nearly 1,200 stores in the mall and treating to the finest delicacies from over 160 F&B outlets, visitors can also entertain with family at the various entertainment components including: Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Dubai Ice Rink, SEGA Republic and Reel Cinemas. They can also enjoy the spectacular sights of The Dubai Fountain, the world’s tallest performing fountain from the Waterfront Promenade. The mall has over 14,000 car parking spaces that will add to the convenience of visitors.
