The Dubai Mall marks the Holy Month of Ramadan with cultural activities and charity initiatives

Dubai, UAE; July 31, 2012: The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, is marking the Holy Month of Ramadan with several charity initiatives and cultural activities that highlight the values associated with Ramadan.

• Month-long activities focus on Ramadan traditions, culture, and spiritual values
• Mall open from 10am to 1am and F&B outlets open until 3am

Dubai, UAE; July 31, 2012: The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, is marking the Holy Month of Ramadan with several charity initiatives and cultural activities that highlight the values associated with Ramadan.

As part of the Ramadan activities the mall is continuing the tradition of providing visitors with daily Iftar packs with mineral water, dates, a Ramadan calendar as well as a ‘health tips’ booklet from The Dubai Mall Medical Centre, distributed complimentary at all Guest Service Desks.

The activities are part of our commitment to celebrate the season, offering visitors fresh perspectives on the Holy Month as well as our region’s culture and heritage.”

In the charitable spirit of Ramadan, visitors can bring light to a child’s life by visiting the ‘Tree of Light,’ an initiative by Dubai Cares, a leading charity organisation. Located at the Star Atrium, the ‘Tree of Light’ symbolises the bright future of children in the world. Celebrating its fifth Anniversary, Dubai Cares has provided access to quality primary education for 7 million children across 28 developing nations. The ‘Tree of Light’ gives visitors the opportunity to partner with the Dubai-based charity and make a difference to the lives of young ones.

Melodious Oud and Qanoon music notes by live performers echo across Fashion Avenue offering traditional entertainment and an authentic Arabian ambience. The performances are held every night from 9pm to midnight.

The Dubai Mall’s Arabian Court and The Souk are showcasing rich Arabian Hospitality traditions, with falconry shows, henna painting, and by offering succulent dates, Arabic coffee, all in a relaxed ambiance set to soothing music, from Thursday to Saturday, 9pm to 1am.

A photography exhibition ‘The World in Ramadan’ presents pictures of how the Holy Month is celebrated around the world by different cultures. Photographed by celebrated members of HIPA, the exhibition is being held at Bloomingdales Atrium.

The Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department has set up a stand to provide insight into the traditions and the religious significance of the Holy Month of Ramadan as well as showcasing art from the UAE, on Ground Floor near Galleries Lafayette.

The little ones will also find activities tailored for them, as Hamleys invites them to participate in a series of workshops to learn more about the Holy Month. They can learn about the art of henna painting, create seasonal greeting cards, traditional pot painting and lots more, every day between 7pm and 11pm.

During the Holy Month, The Dubai Mall has extended operating hours to be open daily from 10am to 1am while the F&B outlets are open from Iftar until 2am with restaurants on the Waterfront Promenade to be open until 3am.

The Dubai Mall, the must-visit retail and leisure destination in the city, features over 1,200 retail stores and 160 F&B outlets. With Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s as the anchor stores, the mall has a dedicated Fashion Avenue hosting 70 of the world’s leading names in high fashion. Leisure attractions at the mall include Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo with over 30,000 aquatic animals; the Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink; SEGA Republic, the largest of its kind indoor theme park in the Middle East; KidZania®, a unique children’s edutainment destination; and the 22-screen Reel Cinemas.
