Dubai, UAE; March 27, 2011: Get ready for the Dubai Marina Street Festival, the region’s first real street festival, promising 10 days of crazy clowning and magical revelry on the promenade at Dubai Marina Mall, the definitive lifestyle, shopping and entertainment destination in New Dubai. World-class street performers will captivate the audience with a series of laugh out loud acts from March 24 to April 2, 2011.

The first international street theatre festival in Dubai will be the perfect leisure attraction for Dubai Marina Mall visitors to enjoy with their family and friends, complementing their shopping and dining experience. Visitors to the mall can enjoy all 12 unique international acts from UK, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Portugal, for free.

Nasser Rafi, Chief Executive Officer, Emaar Malls Group, said: “A key focus for us is to bring unprecedented leisure attractions to Dubai Marina Mall for visitors and residents of the Marina. The Street Festival will appeal to all age-groups by showcasing the best in international street entertainment, circus, comedy, and shows.”

The acts at the Street Festival include Herbie Treehead who mixes his clowning style with audience interaction, creating large-scale, enormous shows out of a suitcase - from sword fights to horse races and Jurassic Park - all set to music, mime and shouting. DynaMike comes with a quirky sense of humour and a ten-foot unicycle, juggling a chainsaw, while Cate Great hosts a Great Juggling and Acrobatic Spectacular Show featuring death-defying feats of strength and skill.

Fraser Hooper’s award-winning show uses audience participation, comedy juggling and mesmerising mime, while J-P Koala brings Medieval Axes, cute cuddly toy koalas and comedy chaos in a powerful display of skill and improvised performance. Inspired by power ballads, sports heroes, earthquakes and the adoration of his fans, Mulletman crafts his shows with infectious charm. Pedro creates a real-life silent movie before your eyes, with a tale of immortal love, heroes, villains, and of course balloon sculpting.

Highly skilled and very funny, Richard Garaghty’s unique charm and skill have made him a firm favourite of festivals around the world. He is a stalwart of Edinburgh Fringe Festival and of street theatre's most famous venue, Covent Garden. Rob FireNix has performed around the world. His spectacular Fire Shows incorporate Double Whip cracking, Triple Fire Staff juggling, a levitating Body Burning and a Fire Eating spectacle.

Todd Various Escapes is a show not to be missed. Various stops you with his comedy, keeps you with skills of a fakir, and amazes you with the escapology of Houdini. Mike Dada is the Balloon Guy who brings his own unique brand of ‘popcomedy’ to audiences. International busking musician, Tom Ward thrills and delights audiences of all ages from around the world with his amazing all-singing, all-dancing musical extravaganza.

An Arts & Crafts Souk – organized by ARTE - will feature an array of streetside stalls full of novelties, surprises, gifts and all sorts of fun things. The souk will also be located on the promenade level and will be open from 2pm to 11pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the festival.
