  • Shareholders decide on a two-step capital increase through a 1:1 rights issue, and an extra preferential issue of 65 million shares allocated to the Government of Dubai.

2000

  • March: Company listed on Dubai Financial Market – opens capital to foreign nationals.
  • November: Established Amlak Finance, UAE’s first property financing company.

  • January: Launches Arno at the Views.
  • February: Launches Emaar Industries, a private joint stock company with a paid up capital of AED 200 million.
  • May: Dubai's Executive Council mandates Emaar to develop the housing project for UAE nationals in Dubai as part of the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing Programme.
  • May: Former Prime Minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong visits The Dubai Mall Leasing Centre.
  • May: Inks deal with Giorgio Armani to develop international collection of Armani Hotels and Resorts.
  • Completes hand over of 10,000 homes.

2006

  • January: Wins ‘Best Real Estate Brand in the GCC’ at the Middle East Excellence Awards.
  • January: Wins three awards at first Euromoney Gulf Real Estate Awards for its contribution to property development; follows it up later in the year winning Best Developer of the Year – UAE and Egypt.
  • January: Announces investments in education within MENA region and India; acquires Singapore-based Raffles Campus to provide educational expertise; unveils plans to open first international school in Singapore; Emaar’s educational institutions to offer Technical and Further Education (TAFE) programmes offered by Australia’s Box Hill Institute of Technical and Further Education.
  • March: Announces AED18.35 billion (US$5 billion) investment in healthcare sectors in MENA and South Asia.
  • March: Launches US$700 million Tuscan Valley project in Istanbul, Turkey.
  • March: Completes hand over of Alvorada homes at Arabian Ranches.
  • Breaks ground in Al Warqaa constructing 544 villas at a cost of AED 575 million for Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Program.

  • May: Joins hands with Saudi-based real estate company Al Oula Development on Jeddah Hills - a SR 42 billion (US$11.2 billion) community.
  • May: Launches three real estate developments of total investment AED 8.8 billion (US$2.4 billion) in the cities of Islamabad and Karachi in Pakistan; unveils Canyon Homes in Islamabad; hosts first-ever international sale of Emaar.

  • September: Acquires Singapore-based Raffles Campus.
  • September: Emaar wins Pakistani government approval to build a model city of development value US$43 billion (AED 158 billion) in Bundal and Buddo near Karachi as a joint venture with Port Qasim Authority.
  • September: Commences property ownership transfer.
  • September: Emaar wins ISO 9001:2000 quality certification.
  • September: Hosts first ever international sales in Pakistan of Mirador villas at Canyon Homes, Islamabad.
  • September: The Montgomerie, Dubai, Emaar’s exclusive golf resort, wins Dubai’s Leading Golf Resort award at 13th Annual World Travel Awards.
  • October: Burj Khalifa scales Level 80.
  • October: Announces expansion of King Abdullah Economic City by four times to 168 million sq m to become largest ever development in the Middle East.
  • October: Announces opening of first international school in Singapore.
  • October: Emaar the Economic City holds IPO, which is over-subscribed; the company is incorporated and listed in Saudi stock exchange.
  • October: Announce plans to raise US$1 billion through Musharaka Islamic Syndication to finance large-scale projects internationally and in the UAE.
  • October: Gold and Diamond Park hands over office units at its Phase 2 and 3 expansion.
  • November: Announces expansion into Jordan.
  • November: Announces opening of joint venture company in Libya with leading development zone, Zowara-Abou Kemash.
  • November: Appoints Citigroup as lead manager and sole arranger for the company’s debut US$1 billion Musharaka Islamic syndication.
  • November: Emaar MGF joins hands with Accor to form a joint venture, Budget Hotels India Private Limited, which will develop 100 budget hotels in the country in ten years with planned investments of US$300 million.
  • November: Opens Nuran Al Majara Residences at Dubai Marina, marking the launch of Emaar’s Nuran brand of fully serviced residences.
  • November: Wins Construction Week’s Developer of the Year award for adherence to build quality, aesthetics, timely delivery and evidence of intelligent master-planning.
  • November: Breaks ground on educational institutions in Dubai.
  • December: Burj Khalifa scales Level 95.
  • December: Showcases international projects of development value US$60 billion at Cityscape.
  • December: Wins Property Company of the Year at Arabian Business Awards 2006.

2007

  • January: Announces record net profit of AED6.371 billion (US$1.735 billion) and revenue of AED14.006 billion (US$3.813 billion) – an increase of 35 and 68 per cent respectively over year 2005.
  • January: Expands the company’s entire property management services portfolio under the Hamptons International brand.
  • January: Burj Khalifa reaches Level 100 and is now one of only six structures in the world that are 100 levels or more high.
  • January: Umm Al Quwain Marina Presentation Centre opens.
  • February: Offers purchase option to residents of its only leased out properties – The Lakes and The Greens.
  • February: Announces plans to develop King Abdullah Economic City as the world’s first truly-integrated ‘smart city’.
  • February: Umm Al Quwain Marina unveils second phase of residences.
  • March: Burj Khalifa, at Level 110, is now the tallest structure in the Middle East and Europe.
  • March: Emaar and Dubai Holding announces that the two companies have reached an agreement by which Emaar will issue 2.364 billion shares to Dubai Holding in lieu of land.
  • March: Emaar Properties acquires full ownership of its Egyptian subsidiary, Emaar Misr for Development.
  • March: Emaar and India-based MGF Group, through their joint venture company, Golden Ace Pte Ltd announces voluntary conditional cash offer for RSH Limited.
  • March: Emaar launches serviced apartments at The Dubai Mall Hotel and Serviced Apartments.
  • March: The ninth Annual General Meeting of Emaar reveals revamped equity structure that leads to creation of Emaar PJSC as the new parent conglomerate.

  • April: Expands to Indonesia with the US$600 million (AED2.2 billion) mixed-use development in Central Lombok Island, spread over 1,200 hectares.
  • April: Announces first quarter 2007 results posting a net profit of US$0.469 billion (AED1.721 billion) and revenue of US$1.063 billion (AED3.904 billion); Net profit and revenue grows 13 per cent and 74 per cent respectively over first quarter of 2006.
  • April: Emaar Education commences student registration for its three Raffles International Schools in Dubai.
  • April: Opens exclusive one-stop customer centre for residents and home buyers of Downtown Dubai.
  • April: Launches Centro Towers, a new residential project in Downtown Dubai.
  • April: At Level 120, Burj Khalifa sets new global record for having more floors than any building in the world; at 422.5 metres, it is now taller than Empire State Building in New York and John Hancock Centre in Chicago.
  • May: As part of its CSR programme, Emaar reconstructs the earthquake ravaged Ngelepen village in Indonesia in a joint initiative with the World Association of Non-Government Organizations.
  • May: Sponsors four 8-seater and two 30-seater buses for the United Nations Office for Project Service, to upgrade Palestine’s Al Mintar/Karni Border Crossing Project.
