Emaar hosts charity golf day

Dubai, UAE, December 26, 2005: Emaar Properties, the world’s largest real estate developer in terms of market capitalization, raised half a million dirhams for two local charities by hosting a charity golf day last week at the Desert Course at Arabian Ranches. The two charities to benefit from the fundraising event were the Dubai Centre for Special Needs and the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation.

Held at the challenging 18-hole championship course created by Ian Baker-Finch and Nicklaus design, the event included twenty teams drawn from Emaar’s partners, associates and staff. The teams sponsored the winners’ prizes as well as competitions such as longest drive and nearest the pin to raise funds.

Abdulla Lahej, Director of Construction, Emaar Properties, said: “Emaar’s first charity golf day has been a great success. Not only have our partners and staff, raised funds for two very good causes, but all those involved thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the day. This is definitely the first of many Emaar Golf Days to come.”

The winning team consisting of Andre Naude, Tim Sephton, Iain Capon and Russell Chapman from DSA Architects International were awarded the Emaar Charity Golf 2005 trophy by Abdulla Lahej at a ceremony held at the Desert Course Clubhouse. The winning names will be engraved on the trophy which will be displayed in the Clubhouse until next year when it will again be contended for to support deserving causes.

The runners up also received trophies while individual prizes were given to those who were nearest the pin at the 2nd, 7th, 12th and 17th holes and who hit the most accurate drive and the longest drive.

On hand to say a few words was General Manager of the Dubai Centre for Special Needs, Mr Hamad Bin Jafleh, who thanked Emaar for its support and looked forward to working closely with Emaar in the future.

Those who sponsored the event included: Al Naboodah Laing O'Rouke; Arabtec Construction LLC; Orient Irrigation Service; Al Basti and Mucktha LLC; Belhasha Projects LLC; DG Jones International; Wade Adams Contracting LLC; Samsung Corporation; Hyder Consulting; K.Home International; Al Futaim Carillion; Transgulf Eletro - Mechanical LLC; Turner Construction International LLC; DPA and Meinhardit; DSA Architects International Inc; Alico Industries; Mirage Mille; Dutco; Emrill Services and Emaar Properties PJSC.
