Emaar raises AED 50,000 through charity putt at Dubai Ladies Masters |
Dubai, UAE, January 20, 2008: Emaar Properties has raised AED 50,000 through a charity putt organised on the sidelines of the Dubai Ladies Masters (DLM) golf tournament. The proceeds will go to Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment, a UAE-based charity that supports economically weaker sections of the society in the region through educational initiatives. Dr Nader Mohammed, Regional Managing Director, Emaar International, handed over the cheque to Ms Annika Sorenstam, 2007 Dubai Ladies Masters Winner, on behalf of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment at the prize presentation ceremony of DLM. Dr Nader said: “The charity putt – hosted by Emaar at DLM for the second time – is part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives to support the society. The funds will go for empowering economically disadvantaged people, and thus help them build a more secure future.” At the charity putt, amateur golfers were given the opportunity to improve their putting techniques under the supervision of golf professionals participating in the tournament. Several top-notch professionals, led by Annika Sorenstam, attended this year’s DLM. Two of Emaar’s integrated residential communities, Emirates Living and Arabian Ranches are in close proximity to two golf courses - the Arabian Ranches Golf Course and The Montgomerie, Dubai – both of which are part of the portfolio of Emaar Hospitality Group. Emaar will also be featuring golf courses in several of its international projects. Continuing its support for the game, Emaar will also sponsor the Dubai Desert Classic 2008.
