Emaar hosts charity putt at Dubai Desert Classic, donates proceeds to Al Noor Centre

Dubai, UAE, February 24, 2007: Emaar Properties raised AED 100,000 through a charity putt organised by the company on the sidelines of the Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament. Emaar was the co-sponsor of the Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament, and had a special chalet and exhibition stand at the international tournament held at Emirates Golf Club.

Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director – UAE, Emaar Properties, presented the cheque for the amount to Ms Amna Dabbagh of Al Noor Centre for Children with Special Needs.

“More than 52 professional players and 156 amateurs took part in the charity putt,” said Mr Al Matrooshi. “The support to the Dubai Desert Classic and the hosting of the charity putt are part of our community oriented initiatives to add value to the community we serve. We had earlier supported a charity putt at the Dubai Ladies Masters too and donated the proceeds to a local charity.”

The charity putt was a unique golf learning experience for the amateurs who had the opportunity to share golfing tips and techniques with world-class professionals such as Tiger Woods, and Ernie Els, who had come to Dubai to take part in the Dubai Desert Classic tournament.

Golf is an integral part of Emaar’s property development and community building strategy. Emaar has two golf courses under its wholly-owned subsidiary, Emaar Hospitality Group LLC, and several golf homes that are built in and around the rolling greens and fairways of established golf courses.

The Montgomerie, Dubai is Emaar’s world-class 18 hole championship course that borders Emirates Hills, the company’s first-ever residential project. The Arabian Ranches Golf Course, located within the Arabian Ranches community, is the only truly desert-themed 18 hole par 72 course in the region.
