Emaar showcases Burj Dubai at International Conference on Architectural Conservation |
Dubai, UAE, February 21, 2007: Emaar Properties highlighted its iconic Burj Dubai tower at the recent Architectural Conservation Conference and Exhibition organised by Dubai Municipality and Index. Emaar, the Platinum Sponsor, of the event presented a 36 sq m stand showcasing Emaar’s iconic Burj Dubai, which is on course to becoming the tallest tower in the world. “The Architectural Conservation Conference and Exhibition highlighted aspects of architectural conservation and traditional heritage in a modern context,” said Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director - UAE, Emaar Properties. “This fit well with the architectural concept of Burj Dubai, which has been inspired by the geometries of the desert flower, Hymenocalis, and also features Islamic motifs in its design elements.” Burj Dubai forms the epicenter of Downtown Burj Dubai, Emaar’s flagship project, which also features such architecturally impressive projects such as The Old Town and The Old Town Island. Both these residential projects are rooted in traditional Arab architectural designs and celebrate the region’s cultural heritage. “It is important that landmark developments echo the true architectural traditions of the society and we try to integrate them in to our projects,” added Mr Al Matrooshi. Burj Dubai has crossed 347. 3 metres and is currently one of only six structures in the world that are 100 storeys or more high. The structure of Burj Dubai is composed of three elements arranged around a central core. “The principal objective of the exhibition and conference was to evaluate urban and architectural conservation policies and identify its impact on city development,” said Rashad Mohammad Bukhash, Chairman of the Organizing Committee. “The event reviewed the positive experiences in urban architecture and shed light on sustained development in historical environments within cities.” The exhibition and conference elicited tremendous interest from architects and developers. It also served as a significant pointer on the future direction of building design in Dubai, with several participants showing a keen interest in traditional architectural influences.
